Divergent (Divergent #1)

by: Veronica Roth

Genre: Fiction, Sci-Fi, Young Adult, Romance

Review:Elite Award

Beatrice is 16 and it’s time for her to choose where she belongs. Should she remain in Abnegation with her family and live a selfless life or leave them forever to join another faction. Her placement test results reveal that she doesn’t belong in any specific faction, but multiple. This means that she is Divergent. She doesn’t conform to any one of the five factions and her life is in danger because of it.

What a ride! I honestly could turn the pages fast enough! Although this book is full of action and twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, it’s the characters that make it great. Veronica Roth does an amazing job making the characters in this book come to life. I fell in love with Tris and her friends and felt the pain of losing so many. I was very impressed with how the love story between Tris and Four develop without losing sight of their Abnegation beginnings. Roth builds a believable world of extreme personalities that fit perfectly into it’s factions. Well done Roth! Now on to Insurgent!
